IMG_0187Welcome to my wellness journey! I’m glad you’re here. My name is Katie and I am here to share with you my journey toward whole body wellness.

Let me start by telling you a bit about me.

I grew up in a large family and am the third child, first girl in the bunch of 6 kids. Needless to say, I never experienced a dull moment at home. My parents have always been a strong influence in my life, and have always been a support to me. I had the biggest sweet tooth you could imagine, and always took advantage of any event by staying close by the dessert table. On Halloween, I would eat as much candy as possible without getting sick.

In my early childhood I developed Eczema (a symptom to an unknown cause) on various parts of my body. I was always itching and scratching to the point that my skin would bleed. I figured that I would eventually grow out of my skin problem, as most children with skin problems do. Growing up I would grab the first lotion I could find and slather it all over my body because my skin was so dry it would crack. Ouch! I didn’t think twice about what I was putting on my body, what I was eating, or what kind of lifestyle I was living. My Eczema issue continued to grow and I began to wonder what had caused it.

The end of 2012 was a stressful time for me and my body. I was in college and trying to keep up with essays and reading assignments, I was preparing to test for my first degree black belt in TaeKwonDo, and I was dealing with friendship loss. During this time in my life my skin broke out so bad that I was practically bed-ridden for a solid month! I broke out from head to toe with cracked, oozing, painful Eczema. I had several sleepless nights, and would go days without relief. I suddenly became very sensitive to anything that was in the room around me, dust, pet dander, fragrances, etc. I needed to change something!

I started a food elimination diet and then promptly moved on to what is knows as the GAPS diet (http://www.gapsdiet.com/). I did the GAPS diet for about a year, not strictly following it as I should have, but discovered that something was starting to work. And that is what started me on this journey towards whole body wellness! I am now married and working as an American Sign Language tutor, as well as building a foundation for my business through Young Living. My dream job is to be a stay at home wife and mother, and be able to have an income for my family by choosing wellness, and Young Living offers me just that!

For your viewing and my reminder of how far I have come, here is a photo of when I was barely 21, terribly sick in 2013, and one of me this summer, 2017. Ive come such a long way in my skin health over the past 5 years, and in my over all whole body wellness.
